Yoko Ono

Yoko Ono 

Yoko Uno is a Japanese multimedia artistsingersongwriter, and peace activist who is also known for her work in performance art and film making.

Yoko Uno was born February 18th 1933 in Tokyo, Japan and studied at Gakushuin and spent several years there butt after two years years she left for New York City in 1953 to be with her family, She spent some time at Sarah Lawrence College. 
In 1966 she first met John Lennon when he visited a preview of her exhibition at a gallery in London, Lennon really enjoyed her work The two began an affair approximately 18 months later. Lennon divorced his first wife, Cynthia who he had a son with, Julian, born in 1963. 



Image result for yoko onoIn 1968 they officially became a couple and their wedding followed in March 1969. They had many collaborations on art, film and musical projects they became famous for their series of "conceptual events" to promote world peace, including the "bed-in" held in an Amsterdam hotel room during their honeymoon in 1969


After her marriage to Lennon, Ono struggled with her ex-husband over custody of Kyoko. She recorded the song "Don't Worry Kyoko" as an effort to reach out to her child. In 1971, her ex-husband disappeared with Kyoko, and Ono did not learn for years what had happened to her daughter. Apparently, Kyoko spent more than a decade living with a religious cult called the Walk with her father.
Yoko Ono and John Lennon had their son Sean in 1975 which resulted in Lennon leaving the music industry to raise his son. But when he did decided to start music again in 1980 he was shot by a 'fan' only a few feet away from Yoko Ono. 



Image result for yoko ono peace towerYoko Ono was still recording albums after the death of her husband, she has also continued to honor Lennon's memory with a number of different projects. On October 9, 2002, she introduced the LennonOno Grant for Peace award to celebrate what would have been Lennon's 62nd birthday. On Lennon's birthday in 2007, she revealed the Imagine Peace Tower on Videy, Iceland. This outdoor artwork, created by Ono, represented her and Lennon's commitment to world peace
